Our Direct Entry Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program follows a rigorous blend of nursing theory courses, hands-on labs and in-person clinical rotations — all completed in tandem. It’s a learning sequence that prepares you to sit for the NCLEX-RN® with confidence and enter the profession as a practice-ready nurse.
MSN Career Outcomes

MSN Learning Sites in Wisconsin
Our Direct Entry MSN program has enrollment locations in Milwaukee and Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. Our DEMSN Extended Option is offered exclusively at the Pleasant Prairie location.
Both locations utilize the same accredited curriculum taught by highly supportive instructors. However, Pleasant Prairie students take all of their nursing theory courses online, and Milwaukee students complete most of their nursing theory courses on campus.

Direct Entry MSN Requirements
Marquette University’s Direct Entry Master of Science in Nursing (DEMSN) program options are not for everyone. Designed for students who already have a non-nursing bachelor’s degree, Marquette’s second-degree MSN program requires applicants to:
- Hold a non-nursing bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Complete all required prerequisite courses with a grade of “C” or higher, if you have not already.
The GRE is not required to apply to the program. However, if you feel that your GRE scores would strengthen your application, you can submit them and we will include that information in the application review.
In addition to meeting Marquette University’s high academic standards, Direct Entry MSN students need to live within driving distance of our state-of-the-art learning center in Pleasant Prairie or Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
An Accredited Nursing Education from a University Known for Results
When you complete our Direct Entry MSN program, you don’t just graduate a nurse; you graduate a Marquette nurse. Marquette University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), and our Direct Entry MSN program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Additionally, our College of Nursing meets the approval of the Wisconsin State Board of Nursing.
Start Sooner
You can start your nursing school journey sooner. The DEMSN program provides start dates in January, May and August. Alternatively, you can choose the DEMSN Extended Option, which begins every summer.
Flexible Time Frame
You can earn a master's degree in nursing in 5 semesters or choose the DEMSN Extended Option, which allows you to complete the program in 8 semesters.
